8th Grade News: November 11-15, 2019

Congratulations to both our girls and boys basketball teams, who won their season openers against Coile this past week. Go Panthers!

General News
Hilsman Health Center is Now Open!
The Hilsman Health Center is now officially open! In order for students to be served, they need to have a parent/guardian fill out a consent form and return it to Nurse Caitlyn. Once the form is returned, we can schedule an appointment. If students have their consent form signed (and on file) and we get verbal permission, our nurses can walk students to the Health Center while they're at school if it's for urgent care (fever, asthma visit, etc.). Otherwise, it operates like a regular doctor's office! To make an appointment over the phone, please call (706)-546-7721 ext. 29290. They are also taking walk-in visits for the time being!

Have any questions? Send Nurse Caitlyn an email at kurishc@clarke.k12.ga.us.

Thanksgiving Food Drive
The Food Pantry at Hilsman Middle School is planning a Thanksgiving Food Drive to benefit students and their families. We will start food collection November 13th - November 20th. Right now, we will be collecting in the cafeteria & car rider line during the morning, and we will gave drop-off boxes throughout the school. We will be accepting perishable and nonperishable food items, but we suggest contacting our AmeriCorp Vista, Ms. Charlie Evans, before donating large amounts of perishable food items (772-207-6036). In addition, students can receive a free dress down day if they donate 5 or more items. (The details on how to keep track of this are still being worked out, but we will update ASAP!)

Fruit Sale
It's time again for Hilsman's Adapted Curriculum Special Education Department annual fruit sale! We are raising money for our Community Based Instruction field trips, which provide opportunities for our students to work on life skills, learn about local businesses, and interact with others in our community. Please check out the fruit information sheet below and let us know if you are interested in purchasing any fruit. All orders and money are due by November 15th, and the fruit will be delivered the week of December 9th or 16th. Ant checks should be made payable to Hilsman Middle School. Stop by Room 242 or contact Mr. Dorsey at dorseyr@clarke.k12.ga.us if you have any questions. Thank you for your support!
