General News

COVID Update and the Schedule for Return
The Clarke County School District continues to coordinate with local and regional health officials and organizations to evaluate when and how to return staff and students to in-person learning.
Athens-Clarke County and the surrounding region are still experiencing high levels of COVID cases, which continue to strain local healthcare facilities. In addition to providing vaccination opportunities for our staff, we are working to implement additional mitigation efforts to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. Our goal is to welcome all students back to our buildings as soon as possible, beginning with a modified schedule. We are committed to providing
all of our students with the opportunity to access in-person instruction this spring. We will provide an update on our planning in next week’s communication.

The timeline for returning to in-person learning is based on many factors, including a reduction in the number of COVID cases, vaccine availability, and new mitigation efforts the district will implement. Based on current conditions, CCSD will continue with remote learning for all students through at least Friday, February 5, 2021.
