8th Grade News: February 8-12, 2021

General News

CCSD Reopening Update
CCSD will reopen for in-person learning on a phased-in schedule, beginning February 15, 2021. Virtual learning will continue to be offered for all students. Under this schedule, Hilsman will reopen on March 22. Please click here for a link to the CCSD website containing all of the Reopening Information to date.

  • Parents/Guardians can still change the instructional model for their student (in-person or virtual).
  • Buildings will be closed on Wednesdays for deep-cleaning and to allow time for contact tracing.
  • Schools will communicate with parents/guardians regarding specific instructional updates for their building.

Student Instructional Model
Parents/Guardians have the option to change the selection they originally made for their student’s instructional model.
  1. If you want to keep your initial preference, you do not need to do anything.
  2. If you want to change the instruction model, log in to your Infinite Campus account beginning on Monday, February 8th, to modify it. Note: Your initial choice will be shown.
  3. Please make any changes by Thursday, February 11.

Spring Conferences
It's almost that time! Spring conferences -- which are especially exciting for 8th graders, as families will also be selecting their students' schedules for 9th grade -- will be held in March. Please note that 8th grade conferences will be held on a different date than 6th and 7th grade conferences, which are being held 2/15-2/19. More information about 8th grade conferences will be coming in next week's blog!

Rising 9th Grade Parent Night
There will be an event for the families of rising 9th graders at Cedar Shoals High School on February 25th. Save the date, and see the info below!

Credit Recovery Has Begun!
Credit Recovery began last week for students who failed one or more classes in Quarter 1 or Quarter 2. Students participating in Credit Recovery will meet on Zoom with teachers after school to work on assignments and bring up their former grades. If you have any questions or concerns about your child participating in Credit Recovery, please contact your child's teachers.
