8th Grade News: January 27-31, 2020

General News
Credit Recovery
Credit Recovery is an after-school program designed to help students who failed one or more classes from Quarter 2. Students who attend Credit Recovery and complete the work may have their failing grade(s) changed to passing ones in order to avoid summer school or the risk of being retained. Credit Recovery meets on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays (and some Thursdays). The program started this past week and will run through March. For more information or to get your child signed up, please contact Ms. Ward (wardt@clarke.k12.ga.us).

College & Career T-Shirt Day - Monday 1/27
Our monthly College/Career T-Shirt day will be this Monday, January 27th. Students are encouraged to wear a t-shirt representing a college (or career) with uniform bottoms. Please make sure the college is visible on the shirt, as solid colors are not permitted. Students who do not wish to participate must wear regular uniforms. Our staff will be decked out with shirts from our colleges and we hope students will join us!

Field Trip Opportunity!
8th grade students in Clarke County will have a chance to visit the National Memorial for Peace and Justice and the Legacy Museum: From Enslavement to Mass Incarceration in Montgomery, Alabama. The field trip will take place on 3/19/20 from about 7am-8pm and will be completely funded by a grant and private donations. Students will apply through video responses using this FlipGrid, and a committee of school and district staff will choose 10 "winners" from each middle school. The deadline to submit video responses is 2/21/20!
